چکیده
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE miR-132 plays a role in regulating neuronal morphology and cellular excitability. Little is known about the effects of miR-132 in cancer. The aim of this study is to evaluate the expression of miR-132 and its clinical significance in gastric cancer. METHODS Cancerous tissues and corresponding normal tissues from 79 patients with gastric cancer were examined for the expression of miR-132 using quantitative PCR and the association between miR-132 expression levels and clinicopathological factors and prognosis was analyzed. RESULTS In 79 clinical samples of gastric cancer patients, miR-132 expression levels in cancer tissues were significantly higher than those in the corresponding normal tissues (P = 0.001). Higher expression levels of miR-132 were associated with more frequent lymph node metastasis (P = 0.033), more lymphatic tumor emboli (P = 0.007), and more advanced stage (P = 0.016). Additionally, expression of miR-132 was an independent prognostic factor for overall survival (P = 0.020). CONCLUSION miR-132 could serve as an efficient prognostic factor for gastric cancer patients. Expression Analysis of mir-21 and mir-221 in Cancerous Tissues from Iranian Patients with Gastric Cancer
Background: Early detection is a key to survival for gastric cancer. Molecular markers such as miRNA (microRNA) can have great importance in the early diagnosis of gastric cancer. Expression of miR-21 and miR-221 are deregulated in many types of human cancers. This study aimed to investigate the differences in miRNA expression patterns within the Iranian population. Methods: Total RNA was extra...

Objective(s):MiRNAs have been proposed to be key regulators of tumorigenesis, progression and metastasis. However, their effect and prognostic value in gastric cancer is still poorly known. Materials and Methods: Gastric cancer cell lines were cultured. Tissue samples obtained from 36 gastric cancer patients were used for quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) analysis. The tissue microarrays (T...

Objective(s): As the second cause of cancer death, gastric cancer (GC) is one of the eminent dilemmas all over the world, therefore investigating the molecular mechanisms involved in this cancer is pivotal. Unrestricted proliferation is one of the characteristics of cancerous cells, which is due to deficiency in cell regulatory systems. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have emerged as critical re...
متن کاملDecreased miR-155-5p, miR-15a, and miR-186 Expression in Gastric Cancer Is Associated with Advanced Tumor Grade and Metastasis
Background: Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the most prevalent cancers with a high rate of mortality in the world. In recent years, microRNAs (miRNAs) have been proposed to be involved in GC development. In this study, we aimed at investigating differential expression level of miR-155-5p, miR-15a, miR-15b, and miR-186 in GC. Methods: For this research, we used qPCR to investigate miR-15b, miR-155...

Gastric cancer is one of the most common cancers in the world. Late diagnosis is the main cause of the high rate of treatment failure and death among patients with gastric cancer; therefore identifying the molecular basis of cancer initiation and metastasis is so critical for developing efficient methods for early diagnosis and therapy. long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are the largest group of no...
